Current Matching Grant Projects.
Matching Grant #07-63989 is also in partnership with La Herradura Rotary (D-4170 Mexico City) and will provide a potable water line to 110 homes in Estutempan. Carmel Rotary contributed $2,000.
Matching Grant #10-70303 is in partnership with Ecatepec Rotary (D-4170 Mexico City) and will provide 6 potable water tanks and filters for schools. Carmel Rotary contributed $3,092. This project is the continuation of a partnership that began in 2005.
MG #07-61345 Potable Water Project in Hogar San Cristobal, San Marcos, El Salvador, in partnership with Lafayette Daybreak RC as lead club. Carmel Rotary contributed $1,616.
MG# 08-67340 School Furnishings and Computers for elementary school in Atizipan de Zaragoza, Mexico inpartnership with Rockville RC as lead club. Carmel Rotary contributed $500.
MG# 09-71682 Etta Project providing water, sanitation, hygiene education in 25 communities receiving new wells in Integrated North Dept. of Santa Cruz, Bolivia. Poulsbo-North Kitsap RC D-5020 Washington is lead. Carmel Rotary contributed $4,000. The Etta Project is in memory of an outbound exchange student to Bolivia.
Completed Matching Grant Projects 2009-2010
Matching Grant #65858 funded 35 arsenic free tube water wells in the area around Barisal, Bangladesh. These wells will be tested twice a year by the Rotary Club of Barisal to be sure the wells are providing safe, arsenic-free water. Completed February 2010.
Matching Grant #09-67342 funded 11 kidney transplants for children. Carmel Rotary contributed $1,000 in partnership with Greencastle RC. Completed April 2010.
Matching Grant #07-63449 is in partnership with La Herradura Rotary Club (D-4170 Mexico City) and will provide pedal pumps for irrigation of fruit trees in Estutempan, San Felipe del Progreso County, for the Mazahua Indian community. Carmel Rotary contributed $2,000. Completed July 2010.
Other International Contributions
Water is Life project of Fishers RC providing potable water wells in Sierra Leone. Carmel Rotary contributed $1,000. Proceeds of Carmel RC golf outing contributed $3,000.
El Salvador Burn Unit Debriding Bed in partnership with Lafayette RC. Carmel Rotary contributed $4,500.
Heifer International contribution in support of DG Judy Hollander's project. Carmel Rotary contributed $1,000.
Wheelchairs for Lebanon in partnership with Beirut Cosmopolitan RC. Carmel Rotary contributed $1,000. This is a continuation of a relationship established during a matching grant for dental equipment.
