The Carmel Rotary club successfully chartered a new school based Rotary Interact Club at Carmel High School. Interact is a Rotary sponsored service club for students age 14-18. The Interact Club organized in the fall of 2006 under Faculty Adviser Brenda Lester and Rotarians Kurt Rupenthal, Judy Zimmerman, Al Mejia and Sue Maki. The club was chartered on January 12, 2007 with 16 student members.
The Carmel Rotary Club sponsors the Interact club monetarily. The Carmel Rotary club has purchased the club banner, a vinyl outdoor sign, club pins and organizational materials. The Rotary Club also provides an annual $800 stipend to Mrs Lester the Faculty Adviser.
The Interact Club has elected officers, bylaws, and regular meetings approximately biweekly. The club has participated in several local and International service projects this year. The Interactors attended a regular Friday lunch meeting of the Carmel Rotary club in the spring. We look for continued growth in membership and service in the coming school year.
